On October 26, 2000, Tinicum joined management and Craig Capital Corporation to acquire FEI, which was the leading manufacturer of non-hormonal intrauterine devices (IUDs) used for female contraception. FEI’s product, the Copper 380T, was sold in the United States under the brand name ParaGard. In January 2003, Tinicum and its co-investors acquired the NDA for the Copper 380T and then transformed FEI from a contract manufacturer into a full-fledged medical device company. On November 9, 2005, Tinicum closed the sale of FEI to Barr Pharmaceuticals.
