On May 22, 2014, Tinicum formed Pontos Aqua in partnership with Dr. Francisco Saraiva Gomes to make and manage investments in the global aquaculture and seafood industry. Dr. Saraiva Gomes, a marine biologist, has spent his entire career managing aquaculture companies across multiple fish species and has extensive experience in farming, health, nutrition, and genetics. The company sought investments in businesses that provided real and sustainable value within the aquaculture and seafood supply chain and that could be enhanced by the operational, strategic, and financial support of Pontos Aqua. Tinicum sold its positons in December 2019.
